Dear Pickup Community

There are a few people who seem to think there is little risk in spamming the forums because all you can get is a forum ban from it. There has been a trend of increased spamming and posting of useless things that have no relevance or are purely written to annoy or seem funny. This is an (official) reminder that things may turn out worse than you think when you spam the forums.

If there is a clear indication of repeated spam or inappropriate posting we can decide to permanently ban you from the forums. This means that you might never be able to read write or participate in anything. That includes opinions about rulechanges, suggestions, complaints, and perhaps the most important one: unbanrequests.
If you think we enjoy reading crap and deleting it over and over without any action being taken you will see how things will turn out. After this message any clear spam will be dealt with harshly so don't come crying afterwards.

For those that post with sensible, reasonable and useful opinions, thanks for being a part of this community and keep up the good work.

Dear Pickup Community

Notice that there where two important rule changes concerning our dp 2010 tournament.

The amount of 2 wildcards per week is set as default and
You are now allowed to use LC if both captains agree. This rule was made because of the latest problems with bot-hosting.

If captains decide to use LC they can ask Trusted Players or Admins to be ingame as spectator and save from time to time.

Using LC will provide an advantage: We will be able to stream the games via WaaaghTV. We won't stream every game but probably the most interesting ones. Racer, NadaSurfDynamix and TiggaR- are going to make English shoutcasts for some games. We will announce the games we decided to stream and/or shoutcast as soon as possible.

Dear dp-members,

We have just implemented a small rulechange, from now on all banrequests including CREEPSKIP, GAMERUIN and FOUNTAINSTOMPING have to be done via the Banrequest Forum, Trusted Players are now allowed to handle these bans.

For additional information read this thread and make sure to read the Sticky as well as the Tutorial to be updated on what information your Banrequest must contain. Thanks!

Dear Pickup Members,

as you will have noticed by now, many things have been going wrong lately. I will spare you long explanations and only provide you with the most important facts:

Admin Cip[1337] has left DotaPickup, he decided to take everything he created for Pickup with him (Bots, ZeTool, XP-Channel), since he never gave the sourcecodes to us, there's nothing we can do about that. As for reasons, you can read this thread, which has been moved (unmodified!) from an internal forum to a public forum. We decided it's best to let everyone form his and her own opinion based on what was going on.

We are sorry that YOU as dp-users have to suffer because of an admin-internal fight, but we can not do anything to change that right now. Read the following to find out what has changed as of now:

- #dotapickup.euro: Roshan is in charge of games now, he lacks some of the features Cips bot had (bold names for bothosts, !a2 for rd, !sena-add), those will be implemented as soon as possible.

- #dotapickup.xp is no longer an official pickup channel, Cip[1337] created that channel in the past and never gave channel ownership to anyone else, thus he now decided to remove operator status for all Pickup-Admins and brought back his bots while baning our bots. This means, should you decide to play there, you are out of Pickup jurisdiction, you might face permabanned Pickup members, and none of Pickups rules apply. Just mind that if you  play there, it won't be your usual Pickup-experience.

- We will not have an XP channel for  now, since we don't have the bots anymore. We will work hard to get a new XP channel up and running as soon as possible, and if YOU are experienced with creating IRC bots and want to help out creating our new bots for a new XP-channel, feel free to contact any admin via IRC or forum PM and offer us your help. Thanks in advance! Also check the XP Forums regularily, we will ask around for things to improve which will be implemented into the new bots.

- ZeTool is discontinued, you can still use it for validating accounts right now, but in the future we'll provide you with a simple to use standalone validation interface.


We are sorry for the inconvenience, but for us as DotaPickup Admin staff it was a necessary step to take.

 DotaPickup 2.0

 

After 1 year of planning and working, we are ready to remake DotaPickup! Everything we did was aimed at improving the overall gaming experience of every user playing here. We hope you like the direction we are going and the changes implemented. This is just the beginning of a total remake and we are counting on everyone to contribute and help us build the best place for casual dota in Europe!

  Enough long talks, here are on short the changes:

- New authentication process: improved security, lower evade chances, users are unique and in future you will be able to see private statistics about your gameplay! You will have minimum one week to validate. After a certain date, only validated users will be able to join channel. This is a one time process.
- New hosting platform: we are slowly getting rid of the outdated and not maintained anymore ListChecker, migrating to a network of hosting bots that will expand and cover every corner of Europe. This will allow very powerful features soon like streaming and stats.
- New rules: we changed the rules a little according to latest changes and suggestions. This are active from today so read at end of article a little about what we changed before add.
- New program - ZeTool: we now have our own developed inhouse software that will help us and every user in ways we couldn't even dream in the past. With your help, we can build one of the most powerful DotA programs available.
- New logo: take a peak at it inside ZeTool.
- New channel: #dotapickup.log - See everything that happens on pickup - LIVE! New users, bans, unbans, validations, xp accept and denies, games and xp requests, etc! Soon you will be able to see there games from XP streamed for everyone and dota TIPS!
- New chances! DP 2 = Second chance for some permabanned users. If they come clean, promise they will behave and not make problems anymore - they will get their old accounts back - with all games + xp access. They can start contacting admins on help channel.
- New Tournament: the users want it and even mange it! We give and help. More prizes will be announced soon.

So here are on short some of the things that we worked on. As I said, this is just the beginning and we will integrate and add a lot of stuff very often. Stay close, keep involving and you will have the best GGs ever!

Only rules changing affect imediate gameplay. The validation will happen in a grace period of min a week. Do it when you have free time. In meanwhile please read this short changelog in rules:
1. FORFEIT
- FF is allowed for both teams after 40 min or from the moment a player leaves game. Remove "early FF"
- You can't ask/demand/whine/beg/mock/laugh/threaten FF. There is no early FF. Even a single line whine or discussion before FF is allowed might get you banned.
2. Remove leaver intervals and replace with: 0-10 remake with same guy or standin (players vote), 10+ continue game with FF enabled for both teams.
3. Host doesn't need to be blue anymore. Host can be anywhere they wish.
4. LC rules removed (bot has priority not LC anymore). Order of usage is Admin, TP, Bot regular user, LC user.
5. Remove "friends have the right to play in same team". Add "you must respect teams made by bot and use !link to play with your friends". (everything is automatically handled on irc, no need to say it in rules)
6. Remove "host needs to ping 3 times" as bot makes an average over last 30 seconds or so.
7. Update rule "You must join battle.net BEFORE !add, with the same or similar nick as the one you use on the irc-channel" : "You must join battle.net BEFORE !add (to make sure you don't have any connection difficulties like key in use or temp banned), with the validation bnet account.
8. If in RD can't decide slots, use the irc list order.
